Office furniture installation: desks, storage and seating built and positioned to a named-position floor plan, levelled, checked and snagged, with all packaging removed by the crew.
Continuum Green installs, reconfigures, and reinstates commercial furniture across the UK. Desks, storage, seating, and meeting furniture are built and positioned to your floor plan, packaging is removed, and the space is left ready to occupy.
Furniture installation is the last thing to happen before people arrive, which means it absorbs every delay upstream of it. The building runs late, the delivery slips, the layout changes, and the install window compresses to whatever is left.
Doing it well is less about assembly than about sequence and information. The crew needs the current floor plan, not the one issued three weeks ago. The furniture needs to be on site and checked. And the floor needs to be genuinely finished, because furniture cannot be built on a floor that trades are still working on.
We install to a named-position plan rather than a general layout, so each desk, pedestal, and storage unit goes to a specific location rather than approximately the right area. Items are checked against the delivery schedule on arrival rather than discovered missing mid-build.
Packaging leaves with us. A commercial furniture delivery generates a substantial volume of cardboard, film, and pallets, and disposing of it is part of the job rather than a problem left in your reception.
Three different jobs get described as installation, and they need different planning, different lead times, and different information from you.
| Service | What happens | Usual trigger |
|---|---|---|
| Installation | New furniture arrives flat-packed or part-assembled, is built, positioned to plan, levelled, and checked. | New premises, refurbishment, or expansion where furniture has been purchased. |
| Reconfiguration | Existing furniture is dismantled and rebuilt in a new layout within the same building. | Headcount change, a shift to agile or desk-sharing, or a departmental reshuffle. |
| Reinstatement | Furniture moved from another site is rebuilt at named desk positions in the new one. | Relocation. Usually the final phase of a move rather than a separate project. |
Reconfiguration is the one most often underestimated. Dismantling and rebuilding existing furniture takes longer than installing new, because components are worn, fixings are missing, and nothing arrives in a labelled box with instructions.
Our post-move specialists do not disappear once the logistics are complete. We remain on site, working through every outstanding task with the same attention to detail we brought to the move itself.
From the moment your teams arrive, we are managing snagging lists, resolving layout issues, and ensuring that every workstation, every system, and every space is configured exactly as your people need it. Nothing is signed off until your environment is fully operational and your team confirms it is right.
Installation problems are almost always information problems, and nearly all of them are visible in advance. These are the ones we see repeatedly.
| What goes wrong | Why | How to prevent it |
|---|---|---|
| Furniture arrives before the floor is ready | Manufacturers deliver to their own production schedule, not to your site programme. | Agree a delivery window with buffer storage as the fallback, before the order is placed. |
| Nowhere to put an early delivery | Pallets end up stacked in the area the crew needs to work in. | Confirm a staging area or off-site storage at order stage rather than on delivery day. |
| Missing or damaged components | Shortages are found mid-build, when the replacement lead time is days. | Check deliveries against the schedule on arrival, not when the crew reaches that item. |
| Power and data in the wrong places | Floor boxes were fixed before the furniture layout was finalised. | Overlay the furniture plan on the services plan and resolve conflicts before install week. |
| An outdated floor plan | Layouts get revised after ordering and the crew receives an old version. | Version the plan, date it, and name one person who owns it. |
| Assembled items that will not fit | Large desks and boardroom tables cannot always reach the floor assembled. | Survey the access route and decide assembled or flat-pack per item in advance. |
A relocation is an opportunity to build a workplace that performs better than the one you left behind. Continuum Green’s fit-out services help you make the most of that opportunity, transforming an empty floor plate into a purposeful, well-configured working environment.
Our fit-out teams work from your space plan and operational brief, installing furniture systems, collaborative zones, and ancillary fitments with precision and speed. We coordinate with your interior designers, facilities managers, and IT teams to deliver a cohesive environment that is ready for business, not just ready for occupancy.
An installation is not finished when the last desk is built. It is finished when the people using the space stop finding problems with it, and that takes a few days rather than a moment.
We walk the floor with you at completion against the plan, item by item, and log anything outstanding: a missing component awaiting delivery, a damaged panel to be swapped, a unit that needs relevelling once the floor settles.
Day-one support is worth arranging for anything larger than a single floor. On the first working day people discover things nobody predicted: a monitor arm that will not reach, a pedestal that blocks a drawer, a desk that needs raising for a specific user. Having a crew present turns those into ten-minute fixes rather than a fortnight of tickets.
Packaging and surplus are dealt with at the same time. Cardboard and film go for recycling, and any furniture displaced by the new layout is assessed for reuse or redistribution rather than skipped by default.
Comprehensive post-move and fit-out services designed to eliminate settling-in disruption and maximise your productivity from the first working day.
Systematic identification and resolution of every outstanding issue in your new environment, documented and signed off before your post-move support programme closes.
Professional installation and reconfiguration of workstations, storage systems, breakout furniture, and executive environments to your exact operational layout.
Safe anchoring of heavy equipment, racking systems, and large format assets in compliance with health and safety requirements in your new premises.
On-site coordination with your IT team to ensure every workstation, peripheral, and shared device is correctly positioned, connected, and ready for immediate use.
Practical advice and hands-on support reconfiguring your new space to better reflect how your teams actually work, collaborate, and move through the environment.
Formal close-out of your post-move programme including a final walkthrough, completed snagging sign-off, and full handover documentation for your facilities records.
We build and position furniture. Several adjacent things are not ours, and it is worth being explicit.
We do not design workplaces, produce space plans, or specify furniture. We install to a plan you or your supplier provides. If you need the layout designed, that is a workplace designer or furniture dealer, and they usually come before us in the programme.
We do not carry out fit-out, partitioning, flooring, decoration, or mechanical and electrical works, and we do not move or install floor boxes and power. Those are construction and M&E trades.
We also do not manufacture or supply furniture. Where installation forms the final phase of a relocation, it is usually scoped with the move itself. See office relocation, or furniture asset management where existing stock is being tracked and redeployed.
Questions that come up most often before an installation is booked.
It depends on volume, how much is flat-packed, and whether the floor is clear. The constraint is rarely assembly speed. It is usually access, lift availability, and whether furniture and floor are ready at the same time.
Yes, and that is the normal arrangement. We install to your plan regardless of who supplied the furniture. We do ask to see the delivery schedule in advance so shortages surface before install day.
Yes, and it is a larger volume than most people expect. Cardboard, film, and pallets leave with us and go for recycling rather than into your waste stream.
Yes. Reconfiguration takes longer per item than installing new, because fixings go missing and components wear, so allow more time than a like-for-like comparison suggests.
It is assessed for redeployment elsewhere in your organisation, then resale or donation, before disposal is considered. You receive a record of where items went.
