School moves are priced on volume, the length of the window, and how much specialist handling is involved. The window matters more than people expect: the same volume compressed from six weeks into one requires far more crew working longer hours.
Volume comes from a survey rather than pupil numbers or floor area, because departmental storage varies enormously between schools of identical size. A survey that skips the stockrooms will produce a number you cannot rely on.
Specialist items are the other variable. Laboratories, workshops, and libraries all need slower, more careful handling than classrooms, and some elements require third-party engineers whose costs sit outside a removals quote entirely.
Disposal and reuse cut both ways. A thorough clear-out reduces the volume you pay to move, and surplus in resaleable condition can offset disposal costs. Auditing before the move rather than after is almost always the cheaper order of operations.
Some parts of a school project belong to other trades, and we would rather say so at survey than at handover.
